"hypernatural #2" CD Softl
Music som101
Sitting on a bus
driving through heavy rain through a pine forest in the Spanish
province of Soria, I'm listening to hypernatural #2, low volume
on headphones. Shifting bass of the bus engine and rain high end
shimmer frame my audio experience. Each track opens playful windows
into still life images nestled in the hills. Vaguely instrumental,
and nearly natural, the tension between what is happening and what
is composed is like a water drip building up momentum to fall into
my walkman laser. A lazy, slightly magical state of attentiveness
sets in and my eyes no longer focus on outside details, instead
they absorb color like cottonballs. I get the idea that I may be
going into a temple, and I pull out of my daze to look down at track
4 marked in the LCD. Mysticism built in and nearly too much, but
perhaps I am being too "enlightenment". Holding back doubt,
soft focus again to one piece of rain running a trail along the
window and falling off somewhere in the pine needles.
