Anne LaPlantaine Á Dijon CD Alice in Wonder.

By Alejandra Salinas

The packaging of this CD is really well done. It is beautiful, but it is also funny and says alot about sound these days. The cover has in large words "Anne Laplantine á Tokyo", which is then scratched out and replaced by a smaller, and less hip, "á Dijon." Variations on the same idea are repeated with other "cool" cities like New York, but I got the Tokyo version, c'est tres cool.

Anne's music is also funny in a way, even silly, but that is not what makes me play it. I listen to it because: "dont cry, you are in my heart forever, I dont know why, goodbye."

Aeron asked me the other day why I love old romantic songs so much. I have a soft spot for the best of them, it is true.

My favorites are songs that speak with over-honesty, connecting with anyone who has suffered a broken heart (everyone).

This is music with an after taste, like sour apples. This is also music that makes you think, like walking into a workers meeting just at the end. Like a black and white Indian film I once saw that left me feeling as much as thinking.

Anne La Plantaine conveys some of these feelings, sometimes. And when she does, she passes on both stories of love and stories of knowlegde like a couple, holding hands.

My favourite.
