flatworm recordings What do you do and why do you do it? We do music - mainly drone and electronics though the mutant-pop side of the label is just as important. Fencing flatworm recordings is the loss-leader of the neo-radiophonics. Loss-leader because all recordings are sold as cheaply as possible. Neo-radiophonics because like the legendary workshop we are attempting to provide organic/emotional soundtracks for the bizarre, that is: everyday life, with limited resources. The packaging of FFRreleases - uniform font and design style, photographs of fish - is a sly dig at the theory/packaging fetishism of the 'underground' that props up many boring releases. All the music on our releases stands up to scrutiny on its own.
What is your brief history? Bored on the afternoon of my 28th birthday - none of my so-called friends could come out to play - I decided to fill the gap by starting a record label. FF001 was born that evening. Being surrounded by the creative and open minded people in the Leeds/Yorkshire no-audience underground made setting up a label at some point inevitable anyway! Since then a dozen or so CDr releases, a limited edition 7" single, a tape only sister label (oTo) and several gigs in Leeds and around the country have all happened. What are you up to now, (without sounding like a press release)? Plotting... What do you want for the future? Sanity (personal and political) Do you have a website? Why or why not?
